Rob Gronkowski says he and his brothers have turned down a reality show

Between being pictured dancing shirtless after the Super Bowl, and funneling a drink this week, Rob Gronkowski comes across as a young athlete who likes to have some fun and party. But the Patriots tight end knows when to set limits on his off-field involvements.

Appearing on the SI Hot Clicks podcast, Gronk was asked if he and his brothers (two are professional football players) have been approached to do a reality show.

“Yeah, we’ve been approached but the timing’s not right,” he told host Jimmy Traina. “It’s just kind of hard, too. The football season is so long we’re just trying to live a normal life in the offseason.”

Gronk did the interview to promote a video game and he was extremely guarded. He would not talk about the post-Super Bowl dancing incident despite being pressed a few times, and you could tell he was limiting his responses when it came to most other questions. Even though his willingness to be photographed having a great time seems to be strong, he’s still a Patriots player, and he’s instructed not to say much in interviews. The team’s PR staff even put limitations on the questions that could be asked when Traina attempted to interview Gronkowski during the season.

Gronk offered a few other interesting tidbits during the interview. He said he wasn’t bothered by Gisele’s post-Super Bowl blast of the Pats receivers because it came in the heat of the moment. When asked about his tweets to model Kate Upton, Gronk says he’s still a fan of her and has been from the beginning. And even though he and his brothers made a video for Madden ’13, Gronk says he doesn’t care that much about making it onto the cover of the game.

“I really don’t care that much it would just be a cool honor if it happened,” he said. “It’s no big deal if it doesn’t happen.”

Doesn’t that seem to encapsulate Gronk’s easygoing attitude? It’s a little disappointing he turned down a reality show, but at least he’s generous enough to provide his fans with plenty of entertainment as it is.
