Report: At least 20 MLB teams planning to scout Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow

Some of the Major League Baseball’s more successful teams are willing to at least give Tim Tebow a look as he tries to embark on a baseball career.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, at least 20 teams intend to send scouts to Tebow’s Aug. 30 showcase in Los Angeles. The Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, and Detroit Tigers are among teams that will send scouts to get a look at the quarterback-turned-ballplayer.

Red Sox president Dave Dombrowski confirmed that Boston would be there, as did scouting director Scott Pleis with regards to the Tigers. Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins even had some praise for Tebow’s swing.

The vast majority of these teams are simply doing their due diligence. Most of them won’t have that much interest in signing him, and while someone probably will, the benefit will likely be extra ticket sales for a minor league affiliate. A lot of teams probably share the skepticism of this former player with regards to Tebow’s viability as a ballplayer.
