Alex Bregman deletes Twitter after alleged DMs with fan
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman appears to need some thicker skin on social media.
A Houston Astros fan posted what he claimed were a series of direct messages from Bregman in response to offseason posts suggesting that the Astros use him as trade bait in Chris Sale talks.
In the DMs, Bregman calls the fan a “clown” and gets even more creative with the insults.
Well, to say I received some odd DMs tonight is an understatement haha. At least I know I have a no trade clause now. pic.twitter.com/qeUeKMogsd

As of Wednesday, Bregman’s account was no longer active on Twitter.
It can’t be easy to read things like this online, but if you’re an athlete, part of the job is to shrug off the noise and the rumors and the trade talk. This is fun for fans, and it doesn’t appear that the user in question was being abusive of Bregman in any way just by speculating about trade rumors and offering his opinions.
Interestingly, this isn’t even the first time this year Bregman’s social media activity has caused a stir. You have to wonder if someone from the Astros had a very firm word with him that led to the deletion of his account.
