Aroldis Chapman ties record with 105-mph fastball
Aroldis Chapman’s reputation as a certified flame thrower is well established, but that doesn’t mean we fail to be impressed whenever he throws the ball really, really hard. On Monday, he did just that.
Chapman came in to close out a 2-1 win for the New York Yankees over the Baltimore Orioles, allowing just one walk while retiring the other three batters he faced. He threw a total of 18 pitches, two of which tied a record for the hardest pitch ever at 105 mph.
Aroldis Chapman: 104 mph, 103, 105, 104, 104 & last pitch 105 on shattered bat in 2-1 save vs O's. He could probably help somebody.

Aroldis Chapman threw a pitch 105.1 MPH tonight… That's tied for the fastest pitch ever recorded by PITCHfx or Statcast

Despite totally cooking on the mound, Chapman didn’t actually strike out any Orioles in his appearance. He still notched his 19th save and continued to remind interested teams why they should try trading for him prior to the deadline.
Here’s video of his fastest pitch:
