Bartolo Colon’s new Mets contract has a bonus for winning Silver Slugger
Are the New York Mets in on the Bartolo Colon hitting joke? Maybe. I hope so, anyway.
The big right-hander signed a new deal with the Mets earlier during the week, and as these things usually do, it was loaded with a bunch of incentive clauses, most of which will never be plausibly reached, but they’re there anyway. Perhaps the best of them is the one that gives him a $50,000 bonus if he wins the Silver Slugger Award.

Have you ever watched Bartolo Colon hit? Have you seen the man swing? It’s performance art in its own unique, twisted form. He has ten hits in 120 at bats over the past two seasons. If Bartolo Colon wins a Silver Slugger award, he deserves a heck of a lot more than $50,000.
