Beer vendor catches foul ball in tub on top of his head (Video)

On some occasions, it’s all about being in the right place at the right time. That was the case for Citizens Bank Park vendor Earl Chaney on Saturday.

citizens-bank-beer-vendorChaney was making his rounds during an at-bat by Carlos Ruiz when the Philadelphia Phillies catcher hit a ball into foul territory. The ball made it over the arm of a young fan with a baseball glove and into the beer tub on the top of Chaney’s head, which prompted a rousing ovation from those close by.

Of all the places that baseball could have landed, a tub on the head of a beer vendor. What are the odds?

Chaney, who has been working at the stadium since 2004, told CSN he was trying to get out of the way and the ball was “just there.” A simple answer, but that’s probably the most accurate way to describe it, because how else would you?

Definitely a better experience for Chaney than the time he recalled getting hit by a foul ball.
