Blue Jays fan throws drink at Hyun Soo Kim while he catches ball

Hyun Soo Kim can

One Toronto Blue Jays fan endangered an opposing player during Tuesday’s wild-card playoff game by throwing a drink on the field during a play.

Blue Jays outfielder Melvin Upton Jr. pinch hit with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning and hit a fly ball to left field. As he was drifting back, Baltimore Orioles outfielder Hyun Soo Kim had a drink can land right next to him.

Kim still made the catch to end the inning, but he appeared shaken by the thrown drink. Baltimore center fielder Adam Jones was especially livid after the play and was gesturing and shouting up at the stands.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter came out to talk with the umpires about the incident, and security at the Rogers Centre was seen trying to identify the fan.

The reputation of Jays fans continues to take a hit. Last year they caused a delay in their wild-card game with the Rangers by throwing all sorts of debris on the field in protest of a call. One fan was even arrested for spraying beer on a baby.

Also, back in 2013, a different Orioles fan had a drink thrown at him by a fan in Toronto too.
