Brewers continuing to push for Manny Machado
The slumping Milwaukee Brewers are in need of reinforcements and apparently know it.
The Brewers had lost four in a row and were 55-41 entering play on Saturday. That’s enough for them to lead in the wild-card race, but not by much. Knowing that they could use some more help, they continue to make pushes to trade for Baltimore’s Manny Machado, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.
#Brewers continue to try on Machado, sources tell The Athletic. Arguably club with most urgent need. Thames, Braun, Pina on DL; Cain, just coming off. Team has lost four straight and six of eight.

The Machado trade sweepstakes has been one of the hottest topics in baseball the past few weeks with Baltimore so far out of contention and looking extremely likely to deal him. The Brewers though will have hefty competition from a number of teams for the power-hitting shortstop. Machado is batting .313 this season and would seemingly provide a boost to any team’s offense.
Milwaukee has Eric Thames and Ryan Braun out, which places more urgency on getting an extra big bat.
