Clayton Kershaw says he is good to go after successful rehab start

Clayton Kershaw

Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw feels ready to return to the team.

Kershaw, who has not pitched since July 23 due to a lower back strain, came through a Saturday night five-inning rehab start okay and said he was ready to get back to the big leagues.

“I feel I’ve always been ready, but this is part of the process, and I’m glad to get this under my belt and ready to get up there,” Kershaw said, via ESPN. “It was fun to get back out there, fun to pitch again. It’s been a long time, so I was glad to get back out there, and everything felt healthy and good to go, so I’m excited about the next one.”

It’s not quite clear if the Dodgers will give Kershaw another rehab start, as the big league club is certainly in a good enough position that they have no need to rush him back. Either way, he’s pretty close to being on schedule, and will be back in plenty of time for the postseason.
