David Ortiz ejected for arguing over check swing (Video)

Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz earned his first ejection of the season on Sunday afternoon, and Big Papi got his money’s worth on the way out.

Ortiz was given the boot in the fifth inning after he became livid when third base umpire Jerry Meals ruled that he went through on a check swing. Big Papi felt that he controlled the head of the bat, and he immediately started barking at Meals. That eventually led to a face-to-face confrontation with home plate umpire John Tumpane, who ejected Ortiz.

David-Ortiz-ejected

Ortiz spiked his bat and threw his elbow pad on his way back to the dugout. He also expressed his displeasure with the strike zone earlier in the game. As we know, Ortiz is one of the most outspoken players in the game. We’ve seen this act from him many times.
