David Price could be nearing rehab assignment

David Price

Boston Red Sox left-hander David Price could be back in the Majors by the end of May if all goes according to plan.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said Saturday that Price was scheduled to throw a four-inning simulated game on Tuesday, according to WEEI’s Rob Bradford. If that goes off without a hitch, Price will be set for a rehab assignment, with his first outing coming on May 14, followed by two more.

Barring any setbacks, Price could be set to return to Boston’s rotation toward the very end of the month.

Price has not yet pitched this season due to elbow issues, and Boston has been understandably content to take things slowly with him. The fact that we’re finally talking rehab assignments and possible return dates can only be a good thing for the Red Sox.
