David Price vows to make Red Sox fans love him

David Price’s first postseason with the Red Sox didn’t go as planned, but he has a few more years to make up for it.

Against the Indians in Game 2 of the ALDS, Price lasted just 3.1 innings and allowed six hits, two walks, and five runs on the way to taking the loss. Of course, Red Sox fans were expecting more from a guy who signed for over $200 million during the offseason. However, on Tuesday, Price vowed to change the opinions of fans who may be down on him after his rough outing.

During the regular season, Price went 17-9 with a 3.99 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 228 strikeouts in an American League leading 230 innings. It wasn’t a terrible year, but not what we have become accustomed to in the run prevention department. Overall, he has a Cy Young Award to his credit and has led the AL in ERA twice.

The postseason, on the other hand, has been a struggle for the left-hander. He has a 7.74 ERA as a starter and 5.54 overall in 15 appearances.

The Red Sox expect to play in October every season and with Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, Jackie Bradley Jr., Craig Kimbrel, and Price, you would think they have a decent chance of doing that over the next could of years. That will give Price more opportunities to turn his postseason fortunes around and endear himself to Red Sox fans. He just has to make good on them.
