Dusty Baker not worried about Max Scherzer’s hamstring injury
Dusty Baker is not too worried about Max Scherzer’s hamstring injury.
Scherzer left his start on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates during the fourth inning with a hamstring issue. He had pitched 3.1 innings allowing just one hit, no runs and struck out five.
After the game, Baker didn’t seem concerned about how Scherzer’s issue would affect the Washington Nationals entering the playoffs.
Dusty on whether Scherzer trouble could affect how he slots NLDS rotation. "No, no, no. We didn't even think about that."

Despite Baker downplaying the injury, Scherzer will undergo a precautionary MRI.
Scherzer did go to get a precautionary MRI to make sure he has no bigger trouble. So he won't talk about the trouble tonight.

When it comes to a top talent like Scherzer, you can never be too careful, hence the MRI.
Scherzer finishes the regular season 16-6 with a 2.51 ERA and 263 strikeouts. He continues to give the Nats a great return on their huge $210 million investment in him. He also should have plenty of time to heal before Game 1 of the NLDS against the Cubs on Oct. 6.
