Byrd beating the Yankees is like a Byrd treading across a highwire with no net below and no highwire experience. And he did it. I remember Kenny Rogers had some great starts last post-season as well. Same shit. Still, I didn't think it was an inexcusable offense.

Its always easier in hindsight to say I told you so. The bottom line is that every team lives and dies with their manager. The Cubs manager (Pinella) obviously doesn't know his players enough or trust them enough. Wedge played last night like he played all year, starting with Byrd, and ending with Borowski. If you change your management style in the playoffs, you are destined to lose.

I look forward to the great pitching matchups we are going to see in the ALCS most likely with Beckett going against CC. You couldnt ask for a better game 1.

look at it like this

starters (including Wang) in the postseason are 12-30 on 3 days rest. throwing cc out there might of not been in the best interest-the pitching now lines up with the way the indians want it for cc/carmona to pitch games 1 and 2 and (hopefuly the tribe will take care of business beofre) games 5 and 6. CC was not especially sharp when he had over a full week of rest, so what is to say he would of gone out there and got the job done? I love Sabathia, and would of felt way more confident throwing out there in a decisive game 5 if need be, but I dont have to worry about that.

I hate the red sox just as much as the yankees, and hopefully the indians give it to them

Looks like everybody who disagreed with you waited until the game was in progress or over to come forward. None of them had the testicularity to weigh in prior to game time, so their opinions don't really count.

Wedge & Co. got it done, but that doesn't make it the right decision. You were right on with this one, and the Tribe advances in spite of the managerial decision.

how can you say it was the wrong move even after Byrd proved the naysayers wrong? now he has his rotation completely rested for the Sawks... sounds like he Wedge made the completely correct move.

WCT, screw that, if Byrd only gave two runs, CC would've had a shutout.

dude, we all owe Wedge an apology. A manager always knows his guys better than outsiders.

I admit it worked out for Wedgie, but I still think going CC and Carmona was the right move.
