Giancarlo Stanton says he does not wish to be part of rebuilding project

Giancarlo Stanton

The Miami Marlins may or may not trade Giancarlo Stanton this winter, but the star outfielder has given a clear indication that he might not mind if they did.

Stanton told FanRag Sports on Friday that, having never been part of a Marlins playoff team, he is not keen on sitting through another rebuilding effort.

“I don’t want to rebuild,” Stanton said, via Jon Heyman of FanRag. “I’ve lost for seven years.”

Heyman further reports that Stanton has grown tired of the constant losing in Miami and is not keen to stay if another lengthy rebuild is in the offing.

A parting of the ways sooner rather than later is beginning to look more and more inevitable, especially if the team’s new owners follow through on their plan to cut payroll. If that happens, it’s tough to imagine Stanton staying.
