Indians, Athletics trade Twitter barbs over Josh Donaldson after Cleveland win streak ends
The Cleveland Indians and Oakland Athletics trolled each other on Twitter on Saturday after Cleveland’s 14-game winning streak was snapped.
Why would the A’s care? Well, their 20-game win streak back in 2002 is still an American League record. Cleveland was getting just close enough to that mark to make Oakland take notice, but with Toronto beating Cleveland 9-6 on Saturday, the A’s made sure to get the last laugh with a reference to Scott Hatteburg, whose walk-off homer capped Oakland’s win streak.
"Cute winning streak, @Indians."

At least, the A’s thought they had the last laugh. Cleveland, though, was not going to take this lying down, instead making reference to Josh Donaldson, who had three hits, a home run, and two RBI in Cleveland’s loss.
.@Athletics yeah, Josh Donaldson is playing really well these days ?☕️

Ouch. We’re going to say Cleveland got the last laugh here. Sure, there were apparently extenuating circumstances that led the A’s to trade Donaldson, but Donaldson won the AL MVP award in his first year out of Oakland while the players the A’s got in return have not panned out yet. The real moral of the story is don’t mess with the Indians’ Twitter account. Those guys play dirty.
