Indians hopeful Trevor Bauer will return this season
The Cleveland Indians are hoping to have Trevor Bauer available for the playoffs.
According to manager Terry Francona, Bauer, who suffered a stress fracture in his right fibula, has no timetable for a return, but the team hopes he will pitch again before the end of the season.
Francona: Still no announced timetable on Trevor Bauer (stress fracture right fibula). The manager is hopeful Bauer will return this season, though. More information likely to come Friday when team is back in Cleveland.

Bauer took a comebacker off his ankle Saturday night that led to the fracture, but the extent of the injury isn’t really publicly known. Cleveland should be able to win the division without him, but any loss beyond that would be a severe one for the Tribe, as he’s posted a 2.22 ERA and put himself firmly in the Cy Young discussion.
