Mariners’ James Paxton cleared to resume throwing
The Seattle Mariners are getting some good news about one of their top pitchers at a time when they’re just starting to get hot.
The Mariners entered Thursday with a .500 record, thanks largely to a stretch where they’ve won six of seven games. The team also said that pitcher James Paxton has been cleared to resume throwing.

Paxton has been on the DL with a forearm injury since May 3. The 28-year-old southpaw was having a tremendous season prior to being placed on the disabled list. He was 3-0 with a 1.43 ERA, and 45 strikeouts in 37.2 innings this season.
It could take a few weeks for the flame-thrower to get back up to top speeds before he’s ready to rejoin the Mariners’ rotation.
