JT Realmuto has home run taken away after passing base runner (Video)

Coming into Monday’s game against the Brewers, Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto had two home runs on the young season. In the second inning, he hit number three. Unfortunately, Realmuto doesn’t get credit for it.

The video evidence shows Realmuto hitting a pitch from Wily Peralta into the home run sculpture in left-center field for a would-be two-run home run since Marcel Ozuna was on first base. However, thinking the ball may be caught, Ozuna went back to first to tag up and was passed by a jogging Realmuto.

After a brief pause, Realmuto continued around the bases, following Ozuna and eventually crossing home plate. Noticing what happened, the Brewers challenged the play. After the review, Realmuto was ruled out and Ozuna’s run counted as Realmuto was credited with an RBI single.

Needless to say, Realmuto probably won’t hit many singles longer than that in his career.
