Bottom Line, they choke, you can make the argument that the way Lou had the rotation set up, was perfect in case the man in front didn't show up. Dempster was your best pitcher all year long, specially after the last two starts by Zambrano.
Zambrano is capable of stopping the bleed in game two and he did and came out ready to go at it, but we know what happens in that horrible 5 run inning. After game two, the way the first two games played out and the offense not producing, it did not matter anymore, regardless of who you had on the mound, They’re the Cubs 101!!

I agree the Loney Grand Slam was the turning point, it totally sucked the air out of Wrigley and the Cubs.

LB,

easy to say that now and while you do have a valid point, arguments can be made for Dempster being the best pitcher on the Cubs. I think you have to start him at home for the reason he was so effective there. I don't mind Zambrano going second because one of the values a true ace needs to be is a stopper-someone who when he is out there on a Sunday after the team has already lost on Friday and Saturday will get that win. Well, pretty much, Zambrano was in that spot to get it tied and to me, he has given up big homeruns before, so who's to say Loney couldn't of hit it off of Zambrano, or Harden, or Lilly?

I trust this was the best decision of Pinella and I think a lot of people would have done the same thing.

It is getting tiring to root for the Cubs (I like the Indians, but root for Cubs in the NL), and then see them fail misrabely whether it be poor execution on the field, getting beaten down, or just plain ol' bad luck.

Here is hoping Lackey and Santana pitch the opposite of what they did the first two games of the series and beat the Red Sox
