During Friday’s game between the Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates, Martin Maldonado did something he will be able to tell people about for the rest of his life.
In the top of the sixth inning, the 27-year-old catcher hit a ground ball to Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez, which in itself doesn’t seem particularly noteworthy. The condition of the bouncing ball, however, is the story because Maldonado knocked its cover off. Seriously.
I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen that before.
The best part might be watching Alvarez throw the ball across the diamond with the cover flopping around. All that’s missing from Maldonado’s reaction at first base is a shrug as if to say, “Welp.”Google+
