Matt Harvey would ‘absolutely’ want to sign with Reds
Matt Harvey could end up pitching for the Cincinnati Reds beyond this season.
Harvey will be a free agent after the year and was asked if he would consider signing with Cincinnati as a free agent. He said he “absolutely” would.
Matt Harvey was asked if he'd consider signing with the #Reds if terms were reasonable: "Absoutely. Like I’ve said, these guys brought me over here in hopes to turn things around."

The subject of Harvey’s future arose on Friday after it was revealed that the pitcher was claimed off waivers by the Milwaukee Brewers. The Reds declined to deal Harvey to Milwaukee because they said they want to build positive momentum heading into next season. The thinking is that if the rest of Harvey’s stay with Cincinnati goes well, he might be more inclined to sign with them for next season.
Harvey has settled in since being acquired by the Reds. He has a 4.28 ERA in 17 starts for the team — his best numbers since 2015. By comparison, he had a 7.00 ERA in 27 innings for the Mets this year.
