Michael Lorenzen gives up homer while his mom is being interviewed (Video)

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Michael Lorenzen made his major league debut on Wednesday, and his mom and brother traveled all the way from California to watch him play. Unfortunately, mom had a microphone in her face when Lorenzen gave up his first ever big-league home run.

Jim Day of Fox Sports Ohio happened to be interviewing Cheryl Lorenzen in the bottom of the second when Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Adam Lind launched a ball into the bleachers in center field.

“Well, that’s welcome to the big leagues, mom,” Day said.

Cheryl let out a nervous giggle and continued to talk about how hard her 23-year-old son had worked for that moment. Hey, what are you gonna do?

Lorenzen ended up taking the loss after allowing three runs on eight hits over five innings. Overall, he didn’t pitch that badly given the circumstances. Something tells me mom was just as proud as she would have been if he tossed a no-hitter.
