So much for that slump, huh?
There were several published reports the past few days about Mike Trout’s May struggles and high strikeout rates, and the Angels youngster showed all those writers where they could shove their articles by clubbing a 3-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday off Brad Boxberger to give the Angels a 5-4 win over the Rays.
For all the amazing things Trout has done in his career — robbing home runs, hitting home runs, stealing bases and winning awards — the one thing he hadn’t done was hit a walk-off. And he just checked that off the list.
Trout now has 8 home runs and an .888 OPS for the season. Most teams wish they could have a player slumping like that.
Oh, and if I happened to drop dead or the world were nuked today, I could go away peacefully with this as the last post on LBS. Seriously, a Mike Trout walk-off might just be the perfect exit.Google+
