MLB auctioning off clothes from Brad Ausmus’ ejection

If you enjoyed the spectacle of Brad Ausmus’ ejection on Monday night, then now’s your chance to own quite the collectible.

MLB.com is auctioning off the clothing worn by the Detroit Tigers manager during his memorable ejection. That includes the hooded sweatshirt he took off and put on home plate, and the cap he removed from his head and threw onto the field as he was exiting towards the dugout.

As of publishing time, the items were priced at over $4,600 on the auction, with the price going up by $10 increments. The auction is scheduled to end on May 25 at 9pm ET, for all interested parties, with proceeds set to go to charity.

After the game, Ausmus talked about what led to his blowup, and he said it was the culmination of several factors that frustrated him. He also said the poor umpiring throughout the game led him to finally blow up on home plate umpire Doug Eddings.

“There comes a point when you get seven or eight guys coming back, complaining about the strike zone, and they can’t all be wrong,” Ausmus said after the game. “I understand sometimes hitters have a skewed view sometimes, but when you got that many guys coming back, they can’t all be wrong.”

Knowing how popular Ausmus is, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this auction go up by a couple more thousand by the time it ends.
