Mookie Betts scratched from game due to muscle tightness
Mookie Betts was a last-second scratch for the Boston Red Sox for their game against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, and the team says the star outfielder is dealing with some muscle tightness.
According to an official announcement from the Red Sox, Betts is listed as day to day due to “left side tightness.”

Considering he was in the starting lineup until the last second, it’s probably safe to assume the injury is nothing too serous. Still, it’s always a concern when your best player goes down, and Betts has been just that in Boston this year. He’s having a career year and leads baseball by a wide margin with his .359 average. His 17 home runs are also tied for the major league lead.
The Red Sox shockingly moved on from one of their middle-of-the-order bats this week, so Betts would be missed if he is forced to sit out multiple games.
