Report: Nationals stepping up pursuit of Chris Sale
It’s still unclear whether or not White Sox ace Chris Sale will be on the move, but at least one interested team is trying to get something done.
According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Washington Nationals are intensifying efforts to acquire Sale. Heyman notes that the Nationals may not be the only team pressing forward with their interest, as the Boston Red Sox remain in the picture as well.
Both teams are rich in the prospects that it would take to make such a deal happen. It may simply be a matter of how willing they are to meet what is said to be a very high asking price.
As many as five teams could be in the hunt for Sale, though it sounds like Washington and perhaps Boston are the most serious. The White Sox are willing to listen, but at least at the moment, there’s not much reason to compromise on their demands.
