Noah Syndergaard mocks Marlins home run structure

Marlins home run sculpture

The Mets wrapped up their weekend series in Miami with the Marlins on Sunday, one that saw them win two of the three games. On his way out of town, one of New York’s pitchers delivered a parting shot.

When Marlins park opened a few years ago, among the topics of discussion surrounding the new stadium was the massive home run structure that sits beyond the outfield wall. A wide variety of words were used to describe it such as bizarre, awful, tacky, and awkward.

Some liked it, most did not. It’s safe to say Noah Syndergaard is among the latter group after the tweet he sent out Sunday evening.

Unfortunately for Syndergaard, the Mets make two more trips to Miami so he will have to see the structure during six more games this season. And, of course, the two teams are in the same division so as long as the 23-year-old is a member of the Mets he’ll get his fill of the gaudy structure.

Not too long after Marlins Park opened, atleast one player said the structure could potentially cause issues. I don’t think cornea damage was among them.
