Report: Phillies listening to trade offers for Jeremy Hellickson

Jeremy Hellickson

The MLB trade deadline may still be two-and-a-half months away, but the Philadelphia Phillies seem to already be open for business.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports on Saturday that the Phillies “have made it known” that they will be listening to trade offers for veteran right-hander Jeremy Hellickson.

The 30-year-old Hellickson will be a free agent after the season. He’s off to a strong start this year with a 4-1 record, a 3.49 ERA, and a 1.09 WHIP in seven starts. Hellickson, who has served as the ace of the Phillies rotation for the balance of his two seasons in Philadelphia, attracted some interest at the trade deadline last year as well. The team may very well benefit from moving the former AL Rookie of the Year while his value is still relatively high.
