Rangers, Rockies talking Jonathan Lucroy trade?

The division title may be far out of reach, but the Colorado Rockies could still be going gung ho for a Wild Card spot.

Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported on Sunday that a potential trade between the Rockies and the Texas Rangers that would send catcher Jonathan Lucroy to Colorado “has legs.” Thomas Harding of MLB.com also adds that the two teams are having discussions about the two-time All-Star but that there is “not enough headway yet” to complete the deal.

The 31-year-old hasn’t been the all-around stud of years past, batting just .242/.297/.338 with four home runs and 27 RBIs in 2017. But the Rockies are flatlining with the Tony Wolters-Ryan Hanigan duo behind the dish, and a move to baseball’s most hitter-friendly park could get Lucroy back on track.

The Rangers were said earlier this month to be open to dealing Lucroy. Now that they are falling further down the American League standings, giving Lucroy a chance to compete elsewhere could make some sense for them.
