Dodgers reportedly acquire Tony Watson in trade with Pirates

Tony Watson

The Los Angeles Dodgers were interested in upgrading their bullpen and have reportedly added a new arm.

FOX MLB reporter Ken Rosenthal says the Dodgers made a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates for lefty reliever Tony Watson.

Watson has moved around in Pittsburgh’s bullpen, going from closer to a setup role this season after having some struggles.

The southpaw, who will be a free agent after the season, has a 3.66 ERA and 1.52 WHIP. He allowed runs in two recent outings against the Giants, so it remains to be seen just how much of an addition he’ll be for the Dodgers.

But the Dodgers’ best bullpen arms — Kenley Jansen, Brandon Morrow and Pedro Baez — are all right-handed pitchers, so adding a lefty to the mix should give them a different look they were seeking.
