Report: Red Sox still interested in Manny Machado trade
The rumor mill surrounding Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado has definitely slowed down, but that doesn’t mean interested teams have given up hope of making a trade happen.
According to Jon Morosi of MLB.com, the Boston Red Sox are still interested in trading for Machado this offseason.

Such a deal would be very difficult as the teams are division rivals, but Morosi notes there is some history between the two men running their respective franchises.
While there’s skepticism #Orioles would trade Manny Machado to a division rival, remember this: Dave Dombrowski and Dan Duquette worked together in @Montreal_Expos front office 30 years ago. @MLBNetwork @MLB

There’s still a lot more to completing a trade than a long-standing personal relationship. If Peter Angelos is trying to ensure Machado doesn’t become a New York Yankee, it’s hard to believe he’d find Boston much better. This one seems like an uphill climb even before you consider Baltimore’s ongoing reluctance to move their star player.
