Robinson Cano boasts that Mariners ‘can face any ace in the league’

The Seattle Mariners’ strong finish to the month of April has slugger Robinson Cano feeling rather confident.

After Seattle won their weekend series against the Cleveland Indians with a 10-4 victory on Sunday, Cano boasted about the team’s offensive production.

“It’s really good,” said the eight-time All-Star, according to Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle. “You can’t compare this lineup with anyone right now. We can face any ace in the league. Everyone is battling, and swinging good. I hope we take it into the next month.”

The Mariners are now second in the AL West at 16-11 and have won seven of their last ten games. They are also a top-10 team this season in runs scored and batting average, per ESPN. Cano himself has enjoyed a strong year at the plate so far as well, hitting .313/.422/.479 with three home runs and 14 RBIs.

Seattle still has yet to make the playoffs since 2001, so their strong performance in the early going of 2018 is obviously a welcome development, especially since they usually only make the headlines for ridiculous reasons.
