Scott Boras reportedly tried to cover up Manny Ramirez PED use

Scott-Boras

Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch told federal investigators earlier this year that Scott Boras tried to cover up one of Manny Ramirez’s positive drug tests with an elaborate story.

According to Gus Garcia-Roberts of Newsday, Bosch told investigators that Boras arranged a meeting with him after Ramirez’s failed drug test in 2009. Boras allegedly came up with a story about Ramirez accidentally using an uncle’s testosterone cream after mistaking it for aftershave.

Boras denied the allegations in a statement he issued on Friday night.

Bosch said Boras told him the MLB Players Association would need a patient chart for Ramirez, but Bosch informed the agent that he did not keep records on his patients. Bosch claims Boras then asked him to fabricate one.

Boras allegedly told Bosch to include hCG, a substance used for weight loss, in the fake patient chart. Boras supposedly believed hCG was not on the MLB’s banned substance list, but Ramirez was later suspended for it.

When Alex Rodriguez met with DEA agents back in January, he reportedly told them that Bosch said Ramirez was caught using PEDs because he did not follow Bosch’s “protocols.” If Bosch is telling the truth, Boras unintentionally helped Ramirez get caught.
