Shohei Ohtani undergoes successful Tommy John surgery
Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani underwent successful Tommy John surgery on Monday.
The Angels confirmed that Ohtani underwent successful surgery, and according to general manager Billy Eppler, Dr. Neal ElAttrache was encouraged after performing the procedure.

No matter what, Ohtani will not be pitching next season. He should be ready to do that again by 2020 barring any setbacks. He will, however, be able to hit without issue, which he sounds quite excited to do. As unfortunate as it is that he’ll have to take a year away from pitching, we should at least see more of him at the plate in 2019.
