Starlin Castro’s agent thinks living in U.S. during offseason would be best for him

Starlin-Castro

Over the weekend, Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro was questioned in connection with a shooting that took place in his hometown of Montecristi in the Dominican Republic which left six people injured. Castro also found himself in a Dominican nightclub where shots were fired earlier this month. In that instance, he was just found to be in the “wrong place at the wrong time” and was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Due to the events over the past few weeks, it’s not surprising some would be starting to worry about the 24-year-old. Among them is Castro’s agent, Paul Kinzer. Kinzer joined MLB Network Radio Monday morning and offered the suggestion of staying in the U.S. during the offseason for his client.

Starlin Castro is part of a group of talented young position players in the Cubs organization that includes Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez, Jorge Soler, and Kris Bryant. Castro bounced back with a solid 2014 season, after disappointing in 2013, and is under team control until atleast 2019. While Castro has not had any involvement in either incident, his safety is of utmost importance and it’s completely understandable for his agent to do what he can to ensure that.
