Stolen U-Haul used in attempt to steal ATM at Nationals Park
A stolen U-Haul truck was used in an attempted robbery outside Nationals Park early Friday morning, according to police.
FOX 5 in Washington, D.C., reports that a security guard at the home of the Washington Nationals heard what sounded like several explosions outside the center field gate at the stadium. The man witnessed four men running to a nearby pickup truck, getting in and driving off.
Police say the four suspects — who remained at large as of Friday — were attempting to knock down an ATM machine that sits just outside the center field ticket booths so they could steal it. No money was stolen, so the thieves must have failed and decided to make a run for it.

Fox 5’s Bob Barnard reports that a group of suspects used a stolen U-Haul truck to steal ATMs in Prince George’s County earlier in the year, and the truck was later found abandoned with four ATMs inside. It’s unclear if the suspects from those robberies and Friday’s incident are the same people.
