Torii Hunter could return to Twins
Torii Hunter is still in search of his first World Series championship, and the 39-year-old veteran is running out of time. Now a free agent, Hunter must decide if he wants to put himself in the best position to win or return to the place where his career began.
Hunter recently said that he has given consideration to signing with the Minnesota Twins.
“I’ve been a free agent three times and this is by far the toughest decision,” he told Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. “Do I go with my heart or my desires. That’s the question I’m fighting.”
It’s safe to assume Hunter’s “desires” are to win a championship. His heart may be telling him to return to Minnesota to finish his career, but the Twins won just 70 games last season. And that was their highest win total since 2010.
Hunter is 39, but he hit .286 last season and has been very durable over the past five years. He could still help a team looking to win a championship, though he might have to take less money to sign with one.
