Twins reportedly make formal contract offer to Yu Darvish
The Minnesota Twins are serious about their interest in Yu Darvish. They’re so serious that they made a formal contract offer to the pitcher, according to a report.
Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500 in the Twin Cities reported in a podcast published on Wednesday that the Twins made a formal, multi-year contract offer to Darvish. He believes the offers was in the four-to-five year range and says he thinks they would be reluctant to go to six years for the 31-year-old pitcher. Wolfson also was told the Twins have been as aggressive as any team for Darvish.
In addition to Darvish, Wolfson says the Twins have expressed interest in multiple starting pitchers, ranging from guys like Alex Cobb and Lance Lynn to Chris Tillman and Jason Vargas.
ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reported last month that Darvish had at least one 5-year contract offer. Ken Rosenthal reported on Tuesday that Darvish has multiple offers. One reason that has been given for why Darvish hasn’t signed yet is he supposedly was waiting on the Dodgers and Yankees.
