Twins’ Morrison thinks Shohei Ohtani is ‘probably the best player in the world’

Shohei Ohtani

It’s safe to say that Logan Morrison was pretty impressed by Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani’s dominating performance on Sunday.

After Ohtani struck out 11 over 6.1 innings of one-run ball against the Minnesota Twins, the Twins first baseman had some high praise for him.

“There’s another guy in that clubhouse who is a really good player,” said Morrison in obvious reference to Ohtani’s teammate Mike Trout, according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. “But to me, with what he does on the mound and with the bat, he’s probably the best player in the world.”

Though he did not factor in the decision in the Angels’ eventual 2-1 victory, Ohtani is now 3-1 with a 3.58 ERA with 42 strikeouts in just 32.2 innings after Sunday’s strong outing. On the other side of the ball, he is sporting a superb slash line of .348/.392/.652 to go along with five home runs and 16 RBIs.

While there may be a bit of hyperbole here from LoMo, Ohtani is just so good right now that even the Angels are looking for new ways to showcase him.
