Twitter reacts to Matt Harvey refusing minor league assignment
The New York Mets announced on Friday that they have designated Matt Harvey for assignment, and they will now either have to trade or release him after the right-hander refused to go to the minors.
For someone who was once one of the most promising pitchers in baseball, Harvey’s downfall has been stunning. Friday’s move was basically the tipping point in what has already been a disastrous season for the 29-year-old, and the reactions on social media piled up in a hurry.
Since Harvey has been given the nickname “The Dark Knight,” many of the Twitter reactions were Batman-themed. Here are some of the best:

Harvey lost his spot in the starting rotation recently and was sent to the bullpen, and he let reporters know how he felt about it. There was also a report about him being out partying the night before a shaky outing, so it’s not exactly stunning that the Mets have had enough of his antics.
