Vin Scully: I believe next year will be my last

Vin ScullyVin Scully announced on Saturday that he expects to call one more season after this year before retiring as a play-by-play announcer for the Dodgers.

Scully turns 88 in November, so there is no doubt that he is up there in age, which is something he’s conscious of.

Though Scully believes next year will be his last, that is not a definitive statement and things could change.

Scully has been with the Dodgers since 1950, which was prior to the move from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. His 66 years with the team are only second to Tommy Lasorda’s 67.

Serving as a broadcaster for the Dodgers has been Scully’s identity since his early-20s. Not being able to do it is something he worries about.

With Scully potentially retiring after next season, that gives the Dodgers even more reason to bring home their first World Series since 1988. Why not send Vin out on a high note?
