Vlad Guerrero Jr. to miss at least four weeks with strained knee tendon

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was on the fast track to being called up to the majors by the Toronto Blue Jays in the relatively near future, but an injury he suffered during a game last week may delay that.

The Blue Jays announced on Sunday that Guerrero will be out at least a month with a strained knee tendon.

Guerrero, who is currently playing with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, took himself out of Wednesday’s game after he was running awkwardly around the bases.

A recent report indicated the Blue Jays were considering promoting Guerrero to Triple-A within the next month, but that won’t be happening now. Guerrero, the son of soon-to-be Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero, has been absolutely destroying the ball in Double-A this year and is hitting over .400. Assuming he comes back 100 percent healthy, he should get right back to hitting some of the most impressive homers we have seen this year.
