Wayne Gretzky’s son Trevor traded for Mike Scioscia’s son Matt

The Angels and Cubs made a trade on Thursday of famous sons. And, yes, the Angels actually traded the manager’s kid.

As the LA Times’ Bill Shaikin said on Twitter, the Angels and Cubs swapped Matt Scioscia for Trevor Gretzky.

Scioscia is a first baseman who played four seasons of college ball at Notre Dame and was a 45th-round pick of the Angels in 2011. He’s batted .222 with a .544 OPS in 127 minor league games.

Gretzky is a 21-year-old first baseman/outfielder who was drafted in the 7th round in 2011 out of Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, Calif. He’s batted .288 with a .667 OPS in 76 career games.

Neither player figures to have much of a minor league career.
