Xander Bogaerts likely to miss up to two weeks with ankle injury
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts is off to a great start to 2018, but that start will be interrupted with an injury.
The Red Sox announced Monday, via ESPN’s Marly Rivera, that Bogaerts has a crack in the talus bone in his left ankle. That injury will cost him 10 to 14 days, and the Red Sox have placed him on the 10-day disabled list.
Bogaerts left Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays after hurting his ankle while sliding into the Tampa Bay dugout while trying to chase down a ball.
The Red Sox have won eight consecutive games since losing their season opener. Bogaerts has been a huge part of that, hitting .368 with two home runs and nine RBIs through nine games.
