Report: Yankees interested in Zach Britton

Zach Britton

The New York Yankees’ bullpen is quickly working its way back to its usual elite levels, but they still might not be entirely satisfied with it.

MLB insider Jon Heyman reported on Saturday that the Yankees are among the teams with interest in Baltimore Orioles reliever Zach Britton. San Diego Padres closer Brad Hand is also noted as a player the Yanks are interested in.

Britton, who just returned from an Achilles tear last month, has struggled in 10 appearances so far this season, posting a 5.59 ERA with just one save.

It’s true that the second-place Yankees could use another left-handed reliever in front of closer Aroldis Chapman (Britton and Hand are both lefties). But it seems like they have more pressing matters to address at the deadline rather than further fortifying what is already an area of strength for them.
