Yasiel Puig throws out Marlon Byrd at third with cannon arm
You would think by now that players would learn not to run on Yasiel Puig, but apparently they haven’t.
New York Mets outfielder Marlon Byrd tried going from first to third on a bloop single to right by Justin Turner in the second inning on Wednesday, and he was gunned down by an absolutely beautiful throw from Puig. Byrd even had a good jump too — he seemed to be past second base after the ball landed and seemed like a lock to get to third. He probably would have made it safely if it were anyone other than Puig in right.
What an arm. At least Byrd more than made up for the mistake on the bases by clubbing a 3-run home run later in the game.
