Yasiel Puig plays as hard as one can, and the all-out approach often puts his body in jeopardy. On Saturday against the Chicago Cubs, the phenom hurt his thumb making a diving catch in the right-center gap.
Puig laid out to rob Starlin Castro of a hit in the seventh, but his left hand got bent awkwardly on the catch. Though he stayed in the game the rest of the inning, he was replaced by Skip Schumaker in right field in the eighth.
The Dodgers are saying Puig is day-to-day with a thumb contusion.
Puig also made a cool catch earlier in the game in foul territory that was eventually ruled a foul ball:
