Yu Darvish hits first career home run (Video)
Coming into Wednesday’s game between the Rangers and Reds, Yu Darvish had just one extra base hit to his credit. He now has two and the second one was pretty impressive.
Darvish came up to bat in the fifth inning and drove the fourth pitch he saw out of the ballpark for his first career home run. And it wasn’t a cheap one either. Take a look.

Madison Bumgarner would be proud of that one. As is generally the case when pitchers hit home runs, the reaction by Darvish’s teammates is fantastic.
As Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News adds, Darvish became the fifth Japanese pitcher to hit a home run in a major league game.
Darvish is 5th Japanese pitcher to ever HR in an MLB game. Nomo had 4; Ishii, Maeda, Yoshi each had one.

Earlier this season, Bartolo Colon hit his first career home run, which led to a fan getting a commemorative tattoo. Let’s see what follows Darvish’s long ball.
