76ers issue apology to Sevyn Streeter after national anthem incident
The Philadelphia 76ers have apologized for blocking a singer from performing the national anthem because of a message she had written across her shirt at their home opener Wednesday night.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Sixers said they were “wrong” for pulling Sevyn Streeter and invited her to perform at another game in the future.

Streeter says she was told just minutes before she was scheduled to take the floor that her performance had been canceled. The team asked her to change her wardrobe because the shirt she was wearing said “We Matter” across the front. You can see a video her the R&B singer’s reaction here.
Sixers players were reportedly upset over the team’s decision, which was acknowledged in the statement.
